A Mental Health Breakdown

Anxiety
Anxiety involves excessive worry, fear, or nervousness that interferes with daily life and decision-making. It can affect concentration, sleep, physical health, and performance across settings.

Depression
Depression is a mood disorder marked by persistent sadness, low motivation, and loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities. It often impacts energy, self-esteem, and the ability to function at school, work, or in relationships.

Life Transitions
Life transitions include major changes such as starting a new job, moving, starting college, divorce, or entering a new stage of life. These changes can create stress, uncertainty, and emotional strain even when they are positive.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
OCD involves intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions) aimed at reducing distress. These cycles can be time-consuming and significantly interfere with daily functioning.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects social communication, sensory processing, and patterns of behavior. Individuals may have unique strengths alongside challenges with flexibility, social interaction, or sensory regulation.

Performance (Careers, Sport, Academic)
Performance concerns involve difficulty managing pressure, confidence, focus, or motivation in high-demand environments. These challenges can limit achievement even when skills and abilities are strong.

Child-Related Difficulties (School Refusal, Behavioral Challenges)
Children may struggle with anxiety, emotional regulation, or behavior that interferes with school and home life. These challenges often reflect unmet emotional, developmental, or environmental needs rather than intentional misbehavior.

Executive Functioning Deficits (ADHD)
Executive functioning difficulties involve challenges with attention, organization, impulse control, and follow-through. ADHD is a common condition associated with these difficulties and can affect learning, work, and relationships.

Twice-Exceptional (2e) Students
Twice-exceptional students are both gifted and have a learning, emotional, or neurological disability. Their high abilities may mask their struggles, or their struggles may hide their strengths.

Trauma
Trauma results from experiencing or witnessing events that overwhelm a person’s ability to cope. It can affect emotional regulation, relationships, and how the brain responds to stress and safety.

Regulation of Emotions
Emotion regulation is the ability to recognize, manage, and respond to feelings in healthy ways. Difficulties in this area can lead to emotional outbursts, anxiety, or withdrawal when stress occurs.
